Hello Everyone!
Hello Family & Friends!
We are enjoying the holidays with our sweet Delaney Grace. She is such a happy little girl and William and I are completely in love with her! Everyday she seems to say something or do something new. She has quite a large vocabulary (75-100 words) for a 19-month old (especially if you adjust her age to 16 months). She says a lot of 2-3 word phrases and chatters all of the time. She is also a little social butterfly and says "Hi" to people anywhere we go. She likes Santa Claus and even sat on his lap! She calls him "Claus". We bought her a Little Peoples Nativity set and she loves it. She knows who Baby Jesus, Mary, Joseph, and the angel are and will get the correct piece when we ask her to find them. Of course she loves the Christmas tree and the first thing in the morning she wants the lights on. She certainly has brought us so much joy!
What is new? Delaney is climbing and running, and is certainly a bundle of energy. She likes to "find cat", so we go hunting through the house for poor Noel and when we find her Delaney squeals with delight and yells "My Cat!". She likes to "pet Tank" and he has become more tolerable of her climbing on him, pulling his ears (which he whines), and petting his "feet". He really is good with her. Sometimes he looks at me like "hey, can you get her off of me?".
A couple of weeks ago Delaney had an appointment with Developmental Pediatrics at Riley. It went ok, although she had only gained 1/2 pound in 3 months. Her weight is of continued concern (she is still at 16 1/2 lbs), however her doctor seemed pleased with her overall development. That said however, we are switching Developmental Pediatricians and hope to have an appointment with her new doctor by the first of January. William and I feel that a new perspective and better "fit" with her doctor would be best for all of us. We have never been completely comfortable or pleased with her current doctor. We will let everyone know how things go when we see the new doctor.
Delaney has been doing better with her eating lately (volume). So, we hope to see some weight gain. She had basically been eating enough to maintain. She is growing in height and cognitively she is doing wonderful. We want that to continue so the goal is to get her to eat more higher calorie foods so her development and growth are not compromised. We try to add fat (butter, cream, sugar, Duocal) to her foods so that we maximize the calories she takes in. Sometimes it is hard to do though.
Last week William and I, along with our parents went to a memorial service through Community Hospital for those that have experienced the loss of their newborn. It was a very nice service and was something I needed especially. I think of my tiny little Breanna everyday. How I wish she had lived and we had our two little girls running through the house together!
I enjoy each and every day with my sweet little Delaney. She is such a blessing. William and I thank the Lord for the miracle of her life and health everyday. Please continue to keep her in your prayers. Specifically for her shunt to continue to work properly and her eating/weight gain. We appreciate all of your love and prayers for our daugther.
